Tornadoes Move Bit by Bit Fundraiser Online

When tornadoes raked across Oklahoma earlier this month, the violent weather forced the Bit by Bit Therapeutic Horseback Riding program to cut short its biggest fundraiser of the year.

As a result, organizers were unable to sell all of the items they had hoped to during the event’s live auction.

“We really depend on that fundraiser to help us carry out our mission — using horseback riding to improve the lives of people with disabilities — but we just couldn’t risk it because of the weather,” said Linda Barron, Bit by Bit’s director.

Undeterred by the setback, Bit by Bit has launched Bad Weather Boots, an online auction.

Items on the auction block include:

  • Half a side of beef.
  • Six tickets to see the Texas Rangers play the New York Yankees.
  • A round of golf for three at the Patriot Golf Club.
  • Tickets to the Texas 500 NASCAR race.
  • A pair of high-end cowboy boots.
  • Four suite-level tickets to an OU football game.

Originally housed on Rogers State University’s Claremore campus, and still affiliated with the university, Bit by Bit uses equine therapy to improve the lives of children and adults with disabilities.
