TurnItIn is an originality service provided to RSU faculty that will check the originality of the sources used by students when constructing papers, journal articles, etc. The service saves faculty time by identifying works that were published by other authors (i.e. journals, newspapers, repository, books, etc.). If the faculty utilizes the e-rater feature (identifies major grammatical, spelling, subject/verb agreement, etc.) the instructor can focus on the content and substance of the paper. Students benefit from the e-rater tool by identifying areas of writing improvement thus, enhancing their writing skills. Student’s documents are uploaded to TurnItIn. Reports are generated to help enhance student writing skills and provide originality assessments based on citations and references. TurnItIn also has the capability to allow faculty to comment either by inline text, voice, or various commenting tools. Peer assessments can also be utilized to engage and promote collaboration among your students.
