A.A. in Secondary Education
Option: General

The Associate in Arts in Secondary Education degree is intended to prepare students for a career in teaching grades six through twelve.
The program is designed to provide the student with the first two years of general requirements to transfer to a four-year program.
Students should meet with the program coordinator for advisement.
Secondary school majors may specialize in English-Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, Business, Social Science, and Fine Arts.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- To provide students with a foundation of knowledge with which to pursue an undergraduate degree in education or other four-year degree.
- Students will demonstrate the knowledge with which to purse an undergraduate degree in education or other four-year degree.
- Provide an AA-SE degree program recognized for its quality.
- Students will demonstrate competency in general education.
Department Mission: The mission of the Department of History and Political Science is to support discipline-specific degree programs as well as the University’s general education program.
Degree Program Mission: The general program mission is to prepare students for a career teaching grades seven through twelve. The specific program mission is to provide students with the first two years of general education requirements which will transfer to a four year program.
