RSU’s President’s Leadership Class to Host Cherokee Nation Councilman and Attorney Kevin Easley in Leadership Speaker Series Oct. 18

Kevin EasleyRogers State University will host local attorney and Cherokee Nation tribal councilman Kevin Easley as the guest speaker at the upcoming Excellence in Leadership Speaker Series event Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Baird Hall Performance Center at RSU in Claremore. The event is free and open to all Rogers State University students.

Easley is a courtroom attorney with experience in litigating in both the civil and criminal arenas. His practice encompasses family law, criminal law, Native American law, personal injury, civil rights, medical malpractice and complex civil litigation. He practices in state, federal and tribal courts and routinely serves as local counsel in a variety of cases for firms outside of Rogers County. He previously served as municipal judge for Chelsea and Foyil.

Easley is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and was elected in 2023 to serve as tribal councilman for District 14 of the Cherokee Nation.

Sponsored by the RSU’s President’s Leadership Class, the Excellence in Leadership Speaker Series provides leaders the opportunity to share their unique experiences, insight, and philosophies on leadership with members of the RSU community. Speakers selected for the series come from various disciplines, careers and backgrounds.

The series was developed to help students cultivate leadership skills, examine what makes an effective leader, discover current best practices in leadership, build a healthy organizational culture, resolve workplace conflict, overcome roadblocks, and use their leadership skills to empower others.

Keynote speaker for November’s PLC Excellence in Leadership Speaker Series will be Claremore Chamber of Commerce President Barby Myers. That event will take place Nov. 8 at 3 p.m., also in Baird Hall on the RSU campus in Claremore.

President’s Leadership Class is a four-year scholarship program designed to develop a student’s leadership skills and enhance their academic experience, with scholarships available for those in the program. For more information about PLC, visit www.rsu.edu/plc.
