RSU to Present Shakespeare on the Lawn June 16-18

The public is invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs for several performances of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” during June at Rogers State University.

The RSU Oklahoma Shakespeare Project, in conjunction with the RSU Department of English and Humanities and RSU Theatre, will present the plays on June 16-18 outdoors on the lawn in front of the Will Rogers Auditorium on the RSU campus in Claremore. The presentations are free and open to the public.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 16-18.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” follows the trials and tribulations, faux pas and follies of four sets of lovers in the woods outside Athens, Greece. Through magic, mischief and misunderstanding, lovers, young and old, become caught up in a story filled with slapstick, suspense, music, dancing, and some of Shakespeare’s most lyric poetry, said Dr. Greg Thompson, head of the RSU Department of English and Humanities and director of the production.

In the event of inclement weather the productions will be moved into the Will Rogers Auditorium or the Baird Hall Performance Studio, Thompson said.
