The Rogers State University Theatre Program will reprise the student-written play “Queerly Educated,” April 19-21 at the Baird Hall Performance Studio.
The curtain will go up at 7:07 p.m. for the all three productions.
“Queerly Educated” was written by RSU student S. Patrick Mills during spring 2011 as part of his senior capstone project. It is a series of 16 monologues, each addressing some aspect of being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender in Oklahoma.
The play was originally produced in October 2011 and all performances sold out. The play was subsequently chosen for participation in the 2012 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
Mills, who graduated with a degree in liberal arts, returned last month from military service in Afghanistan. He missed the play’s debut while serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Director Renee Cox said the reprisal is, in part, a celebration of Mills’ safe return.
Tickets are free for all veterans, as well as for RSU faculty, students and staff. Adult tickets are available to the general public for $10 and seniors can purchase tickets for $6.
