RSU Scholarship Auction Revved up to go ‘Hog Wild’ on April 12

The Rogers State University Foundation Scholarship Auction and Dinner is getting ready to go “Hog Wild for Scholarships” to help fund RSU student scholarship.

With the spirit of motorcycles and the open road, “Hog Wild for Scholars” is the theme for the RSU Foundation’s ninth annual auction, which helps raise funds so that area students may attend RSU.

The auction, which is open to the public, will be held Friday, April 12, at the Claremore Expo Center, 400 Veterans Parkway. Doors will open and silent auction bidding will begin at 5:30 p.m., a barbeque buffet will be available at 6 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Catering will be provided by Billy Sims BBQ, with desserts from Tiny Cakes and Truffles.

Pelco Structural, LLC is serving as the event’s presenting sponsor.

Special guests for this year’s auction features Billy Sims, 1978 Heisman Trophy Winner, and Lori Fullbright, News on 6 anchor.

“Hog Wild for Scholars” will feature a festive evening of food and music and the chance to bid on many unique live and silent auction items. A featured package will be Earl Klugh’s 11th Annual Weekend of Jazz at The Broadmoor, April 3-5, 2014, which includes three-night accommodations and valet parking at The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs. Certain room restrictions apply.

Other exciting auction items include a deer hunt on the Robson Ranch; vacation packages in Breckenridge, Colo., and Orlando, Fla.; a Tom James custom-tailored suit; a North Carolina sailing trip; a personally autographed Billy Sims football and jersey, a football signed by six Heisman Trophy winners, a dinner in RSU President Dr. Larry Rice’s home catered by Stonehorse of Utica Square, a ladies’ diamond ring featuring 1.35 carats-certified, golf packages at Tulsa Country Club and Golf Club of Oklahoma, and much more.

The cost to attend the auction is $30 per person or $500 for a reserved table of eight.

A raffle drawing will be held for a chance to win $5,000 or a 2011 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle. Raffle tickets are $50 and available in advance or at the event.

Proceeds from the event, sponsored by RSU Foundation, will provide scholarships for RSU students at the Claremore, Bartlesville and Pryor campuses.

“The scholarship auction has become one of the foremost social events in the Claremore area,” said Tonni Harrald, RSU director of annual giving and events. “But more importantly, we will be raising much-needed scholarship funds for deserving students.”
