Oklahoma Small Business Development Center Executive Director Bill Carter has announced the addition of a new Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Rogers State University in Claremore.
“The partnership with RSU will bring high quality, confidential business advising, education and technical services to business owners and new entrepreneurs in the Claremore and surrounding area. The resources and programs of the Innovation Center at Rogers State will also be a great complement and addition to the overall capability of the state-wide SBDC program,” Carter said.
Jeri Koehler, Director of the Innovation Center at RSU said, “The addition of an SBDC Center here creates an important partnership with other Oklahoma universities, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the regional economic development agencies. This partnership will help us fulfil our commitment to small businesses in north eastern Oklahoma.”
The Oklahoma Small Business Development Center Network (OKSBDC) provides confidential, high quality, business management advising in all 77 Oklahoma counties. Management advising and training cover business planning, capitalization, competitive market research, international trade and export assistance, government contracting assistance, growth and succession strategies, business continuity planning, disaster preparedness, and much more. SBDC services are provided as part of a federal, state and local economic development partnership which results in successful business start-ups, stronger enterprises, increased private sector job growth and ultimately a more sustainable Oklahoma economy.
The RSU Innovation Center provides companies with support and resources to assist the growth from business concept to profitability. It also houses an incubator program that provides advantages to start-ups, including close links to the university’s academic resources and professional, on-site business assistance.
Since 1984, the OKSBDC has been Oklahoma’s most comprehensive business consulting network and has helped more than 150,000 Oklahomans realize their entrepreneurial dreams of starting and owning a successful small business. Business owners in any of Oklahoma’s 77 counties can receive no-cost business advising on a range of business operational issues from one of the 17 locations the SBDC network has in Oklahoma. Through a partnership with the Small Business Administration, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and many of Oklahoma’s higher education institutions, the OKSBDC has impacted Oklahoma’s economy through business start-ups, job growth, and increased business sustainability.
