RSU Earns Top National Awards for Athletics Publications

Rogers State University won four first-place national awards from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics – Sports Information Director Association.

The NAIA-SIDA Publication Contest honored four publications developed during the 2011-2012 year by Sara Williams, assistant athletic director for media relations; Steven Braun, new media coordinator; and Randy Riggs, graphic designer.

For the third consecutive year, the RSU basketball media guide won the Combined Basketball Brochure category. RSU also won first place both for its softball media guide, and its men’s and women’s soccer media guide earned first place in the multi-sport brochure category. The baseball media guide received third place in the Walt McAlexander Baseball Brochure category.

In addition to the publication awards, Williams earned a first-place award in the Dr. W. Jack Bell Writing Contest for Season Previews/Reviews, recognizing the “Diamond Cats Season Preview.” Her “Men’s Basketball Outlook” was recognized with a 10th place award in the same category.

“Just as our student-athletes have earned national recognition for their accomplishments, our sports information department stands among the best in the nation,” said RSU Athletics Director Ryan Bradley. “Our staff’s professionalism and dedication to excellence provide well-deserved support for our student-athletes, while also shining the national spotlight on Rogers State.”

Fourteen RSU Athletic publications have earned national awards from the NAIA-SIDA Publication Contest during the last four years, with the basketball media guide placing in the top 10 each year.
