Rogers State University Selects Phillips as New Vice President for Student Affairs

Jerrett PhillipsRogers State University has selected Dr. Jerrett D. Phillips to be the new vice president for student affairs. Pending the approval of the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents, he will join RSU in late April.

“I’m honored to join the Hillcat family and excited to serve the students, staff and faculty as the next vice president for student affairs,” Phillips said. “I was highly impressed by everyone I met while on campus and look forward to maximizing our collective efforts to showcase RSU’s commitment to its students and their college success.”

As vice president for student affairs, Phillips will oversee a variety of student activity and support functions, including student activities, student organizations, career services, student development, disability services, student health center, counseling services and residential life.

Most recently, Phillips has served as vice president for enrollment management and student success and dean of students at Cameron University in Lawton.

RSU President Dr. Larry Rice is excited for Phillips to join the leadership team on the Hill.

“I am excited for Dr. Jerrett Phillips to join us at RSU as our next vice president for student affairs,” Rice said. “He brings 25 years of experience in higher education and many years serving in student affairs functions on university campuses. I look forward to how he will lead RSU student affairs into the future and bring a fresh approach and new ideas to campus.”

Prior to his tenure at Cameron, he served as vice chancellor for enrollment management at Louisiana State University in Eunice, Louisiana (2016-17); director of student affairs – branch campuses at Northeastern State University in Broken Arrow (2013-16); executive director of enrollment management at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah (2011-13); director of enrollment management/student services at Northeastern State University in Broken Arrow (2005-11); and director of admissions and enrollment at Bacone College in Muskogee (1999-2005).

Phillips earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Northeastern State University, a Master of Human Relations (MHR) from the University of Oklahoma, and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership and policy studies from Oklahoma State University.

Phillips has completed training in National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA) Structured Interview for Violence Risk Assessment, NABITA Risk Rubric and Violence Risk Assessment of the Written Word, Better Conversations Facilitator training, At-Risk for University and College Faculty and Staff, Higher Learning Commission: Supporting Student Success (workshop), General Ethics in the Workplace, Title IX and Sexual Misconduct, Active Shooter Response for Higher Education Students, and more.
