Oklahoma native Wanda Jackson, the Queen of Rockabilly, will be the guest on RSU Public Television’s “Green Country Perspectives with Sam Jones,” at 9 p.m. Friday, April 15.
Jackson, a singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist, had success in the mid-1950s and 1960s as one of the first popular female rockabilly singers and a pioneering rock and roll artist. She moved into mainstream country music later in her career. She presently is experiencing a resurgence in popularity among audiences of all ages.
During the program, Jackson will discuss her life, music and the personalities she worked with during here career, including Elvis Presley.
“Green Country Perspectives with Sam Jones” is a weekly series designed to promote public affairs, cultural understanding and the arts, hosted by veteran Tulsa news anchor Sam Jones. The program is in its fifth year on RSU Public Television. A new installment of the program airs at 9 p.m. each Friday, with repeats at 6:30 p.m. Sundays and 1 p.m. Wednesdays.
