Stop the Bleed

Professor Brian Coley, Program Coordinator for Allied Health
The purpose of this hands-on session is to build social resilience by better preparing the public to save lives by raising awareness of basic actions to stop life threatening bleeding following everyday emergencies and man-made and natural disasters. The STOP THE BLEED® campaign was initiated by a federal interagency workgroup convened by the National Security Council Staff, The White House.

Building Thinking Classrooms

Professor Lori Martin, RSU Mathematics Faculty, PHS Concurrent Caculty, Quality Matters Certified
This presentation is designed to help faculty implement key optimal practices for thinking that create an ideal setting for deep learning. The session will include the what, why, and how of each practice and answer most frequently asked questions. Additionally, a full student panel will provide feedback regarding their perspective and outcomes.

Understanding Contemporary Students

Naomi Beckwith, RSU alumnus and OSU graduate student in Psychology
Today’s college students come from all walks of life, bringing unique strengths and needs.  They are parents, working adults, veterans, online students, and first generation college-goers, following new pathways through higher education.  Naomi Beckwith will present the results of her research on contemporary student needs. Ms. Beckwith won the Psi Chi Research Award for her work on this topic at the 2023 Southwestern Psychological Association (SWPA) conference.
