Senior Art Capstone Exhibit Opens Today

Artwork of girl laying inside a flower.Original textiles, paintings, graphics and other works of art created by 10 graduating Rogers State University seniors will be featured in the Spring 2017 Senior Capstone Exhibition, which opens tonight.

The exhibition opens at 5 p.m., Friday, April 21, in the Foundations Gallery in Baird Hall and will run through May 11. Admission is free and open to the public.

The works represent the capstone experience for students pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, including: Robyn Chepkauskas of Muskogee, Hannah Cook of Claremore, JD Easter of Strang, Gabby Gaither of Dewey, Alexa Gift of Broken Arrow, Jesse Herbert of Tulsa, Margaret Jenkins of Tulsa, Tanner Norwood of Miami, Maggie Sue Parker of Pryor, and Colene Reeves of Pawhuska.

After this evening’s opening, gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

RSU offers a bachelor of fine art in visual arts degree with options in graphic design, multimedia, photographic arts, or studio arts, as well as an associate degree in liberal arts with an option in Native American studies. The department also offers minors in art, art history, graphic design, music, and Native American studies.
