Rogers State University’s television station resumed broadcasting at full power this weekend after transmitter problems forced the station to transmit its signal at reduced power during the summer.
RSU-TV is now broadcasting at its full strength of 2.75 million watts, which allows the station to reach about 1.2 million people within a 75-mile radius of its main broadcast tower north of Claremore.
The station is Oklahoma’s only full-powered television station operated on a public university campus. The station is a key component to RSU’s distance learning programs, which includes telecourses and live interactive programming.
Because some students have been unable to receive RSU-TV telecourses due to the reduced signal strength, the station will re-broadcast telecourses initially aired during the first three weeks of classes. The re-broadcast schedule is:

In early May, three aging transmitter tubes failed at RSU-TV’s transmission station. The tubes were unable to be repaired, so the university purchased three new tubes at a cost of about $150,000.
