RSU Announces Homecoming 2024 Activities, Events, Coming Jan. 26 – Feb. 3

Once a Hillcat. Always a Hillcat. Homecoming 24

Rogers State University will host a week of fun activities and spirited events in conjunction with this year’s homecoming week, taking place from Friday, Jan. 26, through homecoming gameday Saturday, Feb. 3.

Sponsored by the RSU Alumni Association, in conjunction with the university’s Department of Student Affairs, the week kicks off with “Paint the Town” Friday, Jan. 26, during which volunteers will add Hillcat spirit to select downtown Claremore business windows with the painting of Rogers State University-themed artwork and imagery. “Paint the Town” is a student-led event, co-sponsored by Spectrum Paint and the Lilac District (downtown Claremore).

On Monday, Jan. 29, J. Farley’s Pub in Claremore will host karaoke singing from 6-10 p.m. to encourage customers to tap into their hidden musical talents for homecoming.

On Tuesday, Jan. 30, RSU’s international student presence will be recognized at the International Flag Ceremony, scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center rotunda.

Following this, Bingo will be held in the Chapman Dining Hall, beginning at 8 p.m. with prizes being awarded to top winners. A Rogers State University student ID is required to participate.

On Wednesday, Jan. 31, brave students are welcome to participate in a dodgeball tournament held in the Bushyhead Fieldhouse beginning at 7 p.m. Some restrictions apply with regards to team size and co-ed team members, and prizes will be awarded to the winning teams. As with Bingo, an RSU student ID is required to participate in this event.

RSU Hillcats basketball games during homecoming week get underway Thursday, Feb. 1, when the women’s team is slated to compete against Washburn at 5:30 p.m. in the Claremore Expo Center, followed by the men’s team also playing Washburn at 7:30 p.m.

At this event, RSU Homecoming 2024 commemorative t-shirts will be available to purchase for $5 without a student ID and $1 with a student ID while supplies last.

The Homecoming Dance will be held 8-11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at 320 on Main in downtown Claremore. The dance is free, but an RSU student ID is required. Further, current RSU students are allowed to bring one non-RSU student as a guest who will be asked to sign in upon arrival.

Homecoming Gameday will take place Saturday, Feb. 3, starting at noon, with the Homecoming Big Top Tailgate at the Claremore Expo Center. Outdoor events will include adult beverages, cornhole and music, and indoor activities will include face painting, free food, and games.

Basketball begins at 2 p.m. with the women’s team squaring off against Emporia State and the men’s team playing against Emporia State at 4 p.m., both in the Claremore Expo Center.

During halftime of the men’s game, RSU athletics will recognize the 2024 Athletics Hall of Fame inductees and the Homecoming Court will be named.

Before and during the games, several vendors – including the RSU Bookstore – will make up Hillcat Alley, offering free snacks, Pop-a-Shot, and giant Jenga and Connect 4 games.

Homecoming 2024 t-shirts also will be available for purchase if supplies allow.
