The Rogers State University Office of Communications and Marketing earned four awards during the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association’s annual awards competition held earlier this month.

RSU graphic designer Kate Northcutt earned second place in the Holiday Greeting category for her work on the Oklahoma Military Academy Alumni Association holiday card. Randy Riggs (BA ’04) earned third-place in the Shoe String category for his work on an augmented reality design for Snapchat that allows users to turn themselves into the RSU mascot Hunter the Hillcat. His work on a guerilla marketing campaign titled Free Compliments earned second-place in the Bright Idea category and third-place in the Shoe String Category.

During the past decade RSU has earned 37 OCPRA awards, including eight first-place awards in the annual competition among all Oklahoma public and private colleges and universities ranging from two-year colleges to the state’s comprehensive universities. Brandon Irby, RSU director of communications and marketing, begins his one-year term as president-elect of the OCRPA Board of Directors this month and is slated to serve as the 2022-23 president.

The mission of the Office of Communications and Marketing is to protect, promote, and manage the university’s image while advancing the university’s mission through the effective use of communication and marketing strategies. Formerly known as the Office of Public Relations, it maintains clear, open and proactive relationships with all media outlets and provides an array of in-house services to the university including graphic design, publication development, photography, marketing as well as web and social media-based communications.
