Students at Rogers State University in search of a head start on their careers or looking for internships or graduate programs are encouraged to attend the university’s upcoming Career, Internship and Graduate School Fair.

Slated for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center Ballroom on the RSU campus in Claremore, this annual event gives RSU students the chance to interface with prospective employers, as well as learn about internships, potential scholarships and various graduate programs available upon graduation.

According to RSU Career Services Coordinator Barry Clark, this event brings together businesses, industries and companies with job opportunities for students scheduled to graduate in the spring 2024 semester.

“We have more than 50 different organizations – businesses, governmental agencies, non-profit groups, military branches and first responders – scheduled to be available that day to meet students, discuss prospective career paths, and even potentially hire them for work that day or upon graduation,” Clark said. “We typically have around 300 student attendees at these events – we’re hoping to have even more than that this year – as this event brings employment opportunities to our students, rather than them having to seek these out.”

Representatives from mental health organizations, hospitals, medical schools, law schools, universities and several Native American tribes also will be present, seeking interns, part- and/or full-time workers, as well as candidates for internships or graduate programs.

Student attendees should wear professional or business casual attire and are encouraged to bring copies of their resume, Clark said. Resume reviews will be available, as will be a photo booth for taking professional headshots for Linkedin or other social media usage for employment. The headshots will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the day of the event.

Event participants may also check in at the Student Affairs table to receive a ticket for a chance to win one of three prizes to be given away: Beats Studio Buds, a weighted blanket and an air fryer.

“We strongly encourage all RSU students, but especially those getting ready to graduate, to come out and learn about the companies in the region and the variety of career paths that are available to them,” Clark said.

Student Affairs is still accepting applications for businesses and organizations wishing to participate in the career fair. Those interested should reach out to Barry Clark at [email protected] or 918-343-6835 no later than March 30.
