Over the years, Rogers State University has produced innumerable artists.

During Alumni Weekend on the Hill, several of these artists – or at least, their art — will be returning to Claremore for the RSU Alumni Art Show.

Hosted by the RSU Department of Fine Arts and the RSU Alumni Association, this event showcases the eclectic works created by alumni in an exhibit in celebration of the arts.

“This (event) will give alumni the opportunity to return to RSU, to reconnect with other former students and faculty, while also having their artwork displayed in an exhibition,” said Steven Rosser, associate professor and department head for the Department of Fine Arts and the Department of Communications at RSU. “Both my predecessor and I hold the belief that all our students are artists, regardless of what their options are – and that’s how they’re trained: as artists.

“We are very pleased with our graduates and the amazing work they’re producing in their communities,” he said. “With the alumni art show, these former students will have the chance to share their talents with the public at their alma mater.”

Alumni confirmed to have their work in the art show are: Kalyn Fay Barnoski, Gretchen Chaffin, Beth Brady Edwards, Matthew Gilliland, Callie Mercer, Spencer Plumlee, Cayla Ray, Addie Roanhorse, Preston Smith, Sean Tyler, Blake Walinder, Crystal Walters, Kara Williams, and Paige Winnett, with a special remembrance in honor of Ms. Sheri Pack.

Following the event, the exhibit will remain on display for the next three weeks, Rosser said.

Snacks and refreshments will be served at this event, with a cash bar available.

RSU Alumni Art Show will be held 5:30-7:30 Saturday, Sept. 24. in the Gary Moeller Gallery of the Arts in Baird Hall at the RSU Claremore campus. This exhibit is open to the public.

The exhibit will remain open through Friday, Oct. 14.
