The Rogers State University Theatre Program will present “Murder in the Studio”: a double-feature of two fully staged murder-mystery radio plays both written by Agatha Christie.
The first program of the evening is “Butter in a Lordly Dish,” followed by the second program, “Personal Call” on October 24-26. The performances, directed by Renee Cox and live sound effects performed by Jacob Canright, a Business Information Technology sophomore from Fairbanks, Alaska will be held at 7:07 p.m. at the Baird Hall Performance Studio on the Claremore campus.
“Butter in a Lordly Dish” is a tense, one act thriller that contains one of Christie’s most gruesome murders. It tells the story of Sir Luke Enderby, eminent prosecution barrister and womanizer, who bites off more than he can chew when the case of a serial killer comes back to haunt him.
The cast of the play includes Luke Huen, a Communication Arts freshman from Claremore as Sir Luke Enderby; Shea Brandt, an RSU junior from Tulsa as Lady Marion Enderby; Kessiah Neff, an RSU graduate from Claremore as Julia Keene; Tara Cox, a Liberal Arts senior from Pryor as Susan Warren; Mikaela Scott, a Communication Arts freshman from Tulsa as Florrie Petter; Grace Campbell, a Communication Arts junior from Overbrook as Mrs. Petter; Cambry Standridge, a Business Administration senior from Owasso as Mrs. Hayward; Auvi Davenport, a Fine Arts sophomore from Verdigris as female passenger 1; Hannah Gray, a Communication Arts senior from Broken Arrow as female passenger 2; Michael Moore as Train Station Porter; Caden Coleman, a Communication Arts freshman from Glenpool as a Male Passenger;
“Personal Call” is a one act play that tells the story of James Brent, who is haunted by his dead wife when he receives a mysterious phone call, seemingly from beyond the grave. Brent and his new wife, go where his first wife met her grisly end, and in the process, they discover a terrifying truth.
The cast of the play includes Jairus Bradley, an RSU graduate from Bixby as James Brent; Ariel White, from Broken Arrow as Pam Brent; Harlea Benton, a Social Science freshman from Vinita as Fay; Auvi Davenport as an operator; Hannah Gray as Mary Curtis; Cambry Standridge as Mrs. Lamb; Grace Campbell as woman 1 at a party and as female passenger 1; Mikaela Scott as woman 2 at party and as female passenger 2; Cody Pechanec, a Criminal Justice junior from Copan as Evan Curtis; Zach Wilson, a sophomore from Owasso as Inspector Narracott; Caden Coleman as a man at the party and a male passenger; Michael Moore as the train station announcer; Cody Berry, a Community Counseling senior from Broken Arrow as the train station porter 1; and Gio Wahome, a Business Information Technology senior from Nairobi, Kenya as the train station porter 2.
Admission to the theatre production is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $3 for students, staff and faculty with RSU ID. Tickets are available at the door.
