The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education recently approved RSU’s request to begin a program leading to a Bachelor of Science in elementary education.
A program to prepare the next generation of elementary school teachers is one step closer to reality at Rogers State University.
The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education approved RSU’s request to begin a program leading to a Bachelor of Science in elementary education, and RSU hopes it will be able to enroll its first class into the program in time for the fall semester.
“This is a program that has been in the works for some time and will help fill a critical shortage of well-educated and well-prepared elementary teachers,” said Dr. Don Raleigh, president of RSU. “Choosing to add this program is another example of how RSU is meeting the challenge to enhance Oklahoma’s workforce in critical need occupations.”
RSU still must secure some accreditation approvals before it can begin enrolling students.
“We know there is demand for the program and we are moving quickly to have everything in place for the fall semester, but there a few items that must be addressed before we can begin enrolling students,” Raleigh said. “Students need to monitor our website and social media channels for the most up to date information.”
