RSU Plans Events To Welcome New, Returning Students

Rogers State University has planned a week of events for new and returning students in order to ease their transition from summer break to the start of fall classes.

“We think that it’s very important for all RSU students to begin the new school year with events and activities that allow them to learn about the campus and their fellow students,” said Dr. Michael Turner, RSU dean of students.

Fall classes begin on Thursday, Aug. 19.

For new students, RSU is hosting an Aug. 18 orientation event for all new students. Through a series of interactive and informative sessions, “Rabbit Camp” allows students to become familiar with the university, student organizations and student services.

For both new and returning students, the RSU Student Activities office has organized Welcome Week, seven days of student-focused activities. The activities are geared to allow students to meet their fellow classmates in an informal environment while also becoming better acquainted with the campus and its student activities.

Welcome Week activities include:

Thursday, Aug. 19: Popcorn, snow cones and movies in the Student Union, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 20: Poster sale in the Student Union from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Dive and Dine at the RSU Student Apartments’ swimming pool with a cookout and a movie at 7 p.m.
