Dr. Min Soe, a Rogers State University physicist who conducts extensive research into the formulation of efficient numerical techniques for turbulence and large-scale computing, recently received the Excellence in Teaching Award at the 2007 Oklahoma Higher Education Teaching and Learning Conference.
Soe is an associate professor of physics and mathematics in the RSU School of Mathematics, Science and Health Sciences. He teaches classes at the RSU campuses in Claremore and Bartlesville.
The Excellence in Teaching Award recently was presented at the Oklahoma Higher Education Teaching and Learning Conference, held at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.
“Dr. Soe is well recognized as an excellent teacher, extensive researcher and scholar,” said Dr. Larry Minks, RSU vice president for academic affairs. “His research and publications have been highly recognized throughout the national and international research communities.”
Last year, he received the Pixley Endowment for Excellence in Education Award from RSU for his excellence in teaching, scholarship and service.
Previously, Soe served as assistant professor of physics and mathematics at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. He also has served on the faculty of Hampton University in Virginia.
He has written several articles for scholarly publications including the Physical Reviews, Journal of Computational Physics, Journal of Plasma Physics and Czechoslovak Journal of Physics. He also has presented several publications on physics and mathematics at national and international conferences.
He received a doctoral degree in physics from the College of William and Mary, two master’s degrees in physics and mathematics from Hampton University and a bachelor’s degree in physics from Rangoon University in Burma.
