Rogers State University Foundation Cancels Benefit Dinner and Auction

The Rogers State University Foundation has announced the cancelation of its annual Saddle Up for Scholarships dinner and auction for 2020 because of COVID-19 concerns. This decision comes after postponing the annual event in April and rescheduling for November. The Foundation instead will move ahead with an online only auction November 15-21.

“The Saddle Up for Scholarships is our most important event to raise funds for annual scholarships, so it was a difficult decision to cancel,” Steve Valencia, vice president for development at RSU, said. “The volunteer committee had planned a spectacular event in a new venue, but in the end, the Foundation did not believe this was the time to move forward with a large gathering of people.”

Sponsors have been maintaining their commitment to the event and a great variety of auction items have been collected.

“Our sponsors and contributors have been absolutely terrific,” Valencia said. “They understand the unprecedented challenges faced by our students, and we are grateful for their support.”

The Foundation will conduct the public online auction a week before Thanksgiving, giving supporters, alumni and interested shoppers an opportunity to get a head start on holiday purchases while supporting a great cause.

Details regarding the online auction will be released as the event date approaches. Individuals and business who wish to support annual scholarships at RSU may give online at www.rsu.edu/give or mail a check payable to the RSU Foundation to 1701 W. Will Rogers Blvd., Claremore, OK 74017.
