RSU Names Vice President for Student Affairs

Dr. Tobie Titsworth – former vice president for academics at Rogers State College and deputy superintendent at Northeast Technology Centers – has been named Vice President of Student Affairs at Rogers State University.

The announcement was made by RSU President Dr. Larry Rice. Titsworth will begin the position on Sept. 1.

“Dr. Titsworth has earned a well-deserved reputation as an educational leader in Oklahoma and brings a wealth of experience in almost all facets of education including teaching, research, finance and administration,” Rice said.

As vice president of student affairs, Titsworth will oversee a variety of student activity and support functions including student activities, student organizations, career services, student development, disability services, student health center, counseling services and residential life.

Most recently, Titsworth was deputy superintendent and treasurer at Northeast Technology Centers from 1998 to 2008.

He served as vice provost for academic affairs at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee from 1995 to 1998, senior systems engineer at Electronic Data Systems Corp. in 1995, advisor and program manager at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, from 1992 to 1995, and vice president for academics at Rogers State College from 1979 to 1992. He also has worked as an adjunct instructor at RSU and Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

He also served as assistant professor in the agricultural engineering department at Texas A&M University, graduate research assistant at Oklahoma State University and instructor in the Miami (Okla.) Public Schools.

His military career includes service as an aircraft maintenance supervisor in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971.

He has conducted research, written papers and provided presentations on a wide variety of educational topics including the utilization of television in education, educational tools in technical education, student success in college and military education.

He enjoys a long history of service to the community and has served on numerous boards and committees in Oklahoma. He has served as vice president and director of the Claremore Area United Way, chairman of the Claremore Park Board of Commissioners and chairman of the board of the Claremore Area Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of Leadership Pryor. He also has served as president of the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges.

His numerous honors and awards include Outstanding Professor in agricultural education at Texas A&M University and Faculty Member of the Year at Rogers State College in 1986.

He is the recipient of the Community Service Award from the Claremore Area Chamber of Commerce and was a Kellogg Associate for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

He received doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Oklahoma State University and numerous certificates as a school superintendent, administrator and teacher.

He is a resident of Claremore.
