Dr. Barry A. Knight has been named Head of the Department of Business and Professor of Business at Rogers State University.
The appointment was approved at a recent meeting of the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents in Lawton. Knight will oversee RSU’s Department of Business, which includes programs in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, management and marketing.
Previously, he served as Professor of Accounting at California State University in San Bernardino, where he also was the Faculty Athletic Representative to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
In addition, Knight served as Dean of the College of Business at Eastern New Mexico State University and Professor of Accounting at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, where he also served as Faculty Athletic Representative to the NCAA.
He has held adjunct professorships at the University of Southern California (USC), University of Oklahoma, Pitzer College, Pomona College, Oklahoma City University and La Verne University.
His business experiences includes five years as Vice President of Finance and Director of Industrial Relations at TOTCO, a subsidiary of Baker International, and audit supervisor at Coopers and Lybrand.
He received a doctoral degree in business administration (DBA) from the University of Southern California (USC), a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from USC, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
He holds CPA certifications in Oklahoma and California. He has received many academic honors and awards, has participated in a variety of community service activities, and has authored several articles for major academic journals.
