The Rogers State University Foundation hosted its annual Scholarship Breakfast in Bartlesville today. Supporters of RSU gathered to raise money for the Foundation’s general scholarship fund, which aids students with demonstrated financial need.

ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 served as presenting sponsors. Numerous students were announced as recipients of the 2020-2021 ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 Scholarships.

“We have received a tremendous response from our breakfast sponsors and donors,” Valencia said. “Our students are grateful for the assistance they receive. These scholarships can sometimes make the difference between a student having to pause studies or moving forward to complete a degree.”

RSU alum Dr. Russell Arellanes (’16) shared words of gratitude for those who supported him financially while working toward his degree. He is currently in residency as an ear, nose and throat surgeon at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa.

“Many people believed in me. The Foundation changes lives. I can’t thank you enough for your support. I look forward to giving back as you are today,” Arellanes said.

RSU Foundation Board of Directors Bob Pomeroy also shared words of encouragement and praise for Bartlesville’s giving spirt.

“Money raised today allows students to stay in Bartlesville and continue their educational goals. These scholarships support students who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend college. They are our future workforce. What greater gift than an education,” Pomeroy said.

The RSU Foundation provided more than $832,000 in scholarships to financially support students during the past fiscal year. The goal of the Bartlesville breakfast was $30,000.

The Foundation’s annual Scholarship Dinner and Auction is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 18 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

An institutionally-related charitable entity, the Rogers State University Foundation, Inc. is an independent not-for-profit corporation that encourages and supports charitable giving for the benefit of Rogers State University.
