Starting August 25, the Foundations Gallery located in Baird Hall will host several artworks created by students who attended Rogers State University’s studies-at-large program in Italy this past summer.

The Art in Italy exhibit starts with a reception at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, at the gallery. The works will be on display through September 26.

Students who participated in the Summer Art Program in Italy this past summer had the opportunity to experience the wonders of Florence, Venice, Rome, Assisi, and Arezzo, while honing their art skills and enjoying a culturally-artistic atmosphere.

In addition to creating their own masterpieces, students got to take in some of the most legendary artworks in the world from artists.

Students representing the Department of Fine Arts on this year’s trip included Jessica Wittig of Tulsa, Grant Mosier of Claremore, Zoe Walters of Tulsa, Maggie Parker of Pryor, Ferrell Dixon Jr. of Tulsa, Tanner Norwood of Miami, Nedra Starr of Bartlesville, and Cayla Ray of Claremore.

Following the conclusion of the Art in Italy exhibit, the Department of Fine Arts plans for several other exhibits during the fall semester, including the annual student art show Oct. 6-26 and an alumni show on Nov. 4-9 that coincides with the upcoming Art on the Hill art show and sale that weekend.

To conclude the semester, art students will prepare and present their capstone presentations on Nov. 18 with the presentations on display throughout Baird Hall until Dec. 9.

The Foundations Gallery is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information regarding the Summer Art Program in Italy, please visit www.rsu.edu/italy/ or call the RSU Department of Fine Arts at 918-343-7740.
