RSU Courses in Business and Technology Receive Quality Matters Certification

Courses in the department of business and the department of technology at Rogers State University earned the Quality Matters Certification mark following a rigorous review process. Quality Matters is the global organization leading quality assurance in online and innovative digital teaching and learning environments. These courses are now listed in the Quality Matters database of award-winning courses from colleges and universities around the nation.

“We are proud of these tremendous accomplishments and commend Dr. Gray and Mr. Sparling on their diligence in designing these courses,” RSU President Dr. Larry Rice said. “Our faculty is committed to developing innovative curriculum that meets industry demands and ensures the highest outcomes for student success.”

Professor Dana Moore Gray, Ph.D, who specializes in marketing, developed the following courses:

  • MKTG 3113 – QM Master 100 (100) Principles of Marketing
  • MKTG 3313 – QM Master 100 (100) E-Marketing
  • MKTG 3323 QM Master 100 (100) Consumer Behavior
  • MKTG 3453 – QM Master 100 (100) Sales and Sales Management
  • MKTG 5143 (QM 100) Strategic Global Marketing (MBA program)

“Online learning is the largest growth opportunity in higher education because it brings the learning opportunity to the learner. Quality design supports the learner’s success, and RSU is dedicated to helping learners realize their academic goals,” Gray said.

Instructor Curtis Sparling, who specializes in cyber security, developed the following courses:

  • IT 4353 – Information Assurance and Security Management
  • IT 4373 – Information Assurance Regulation & Ethics
  • TECH 3023 – Emerging Technologies
  • IT 2153 – Network Operating Systems.

“The Quality Matters Official Review provided the opportunity to reflect on these course and examine them from the learner perspective,” Sparling said. “From accessibility to learner engagement to assessments, the review used internationally-recognized standards and best practices to examine critical course components related to the learner experience and ultimately learner success.”

In 1992, RSU was the first institution in the state of Oklahoma to offer college degrees completely online. This year the university celebrates 20 years as an accredited institution awarding bachelor’s degrees. The university operates its main residential campus in Claremore, with additional campuses in Bartlesville and Pryor. RSU is consistently recognized as on the regions’ most affordable colleges, with more than half of last year’s graduates earning their degree without student loan assistance.
