
Rogers State University’s Communications and Marketing team members took home multiple awards from the 2025 Oklahoma College Public Relations Association’s (OCPRA) Annual Awards Competition.
Held Monday, July 14, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa, the awards ceremony took place during OCPRA’s annual Summer Conference.
RSU Graphic Designer Randy Riggs received a total of three awards, including two in the “Wild, Tactical, Fearless Idea” category: one Grand Award (first place) for “RSU Admitted Student Box,” and one Achievement Award (third place) for “RSU Pillowcase Summer Melt.” In the “Seasonal or Celebration Design” category, Riggs received an Excellence Award for “’Play Anything’ but the Top 40 RSU Radio Poster.”
Also, RSU Communications and Marketing Writer/Editor Tom Fink won two awards. In the writing category, he won an Excellence Award (second place) in “Storytelling or Documentary Photo” for “RSU Nursing Mock Disaster Drill” and an Excellence Award in “Short-Form Writing (Headlines, Captions, Microcontent)” for “Blind Ambition: RSU Senior Sets Sights on Communications Career.”
RSU’s Communications and Marketing team includes Kenny Day, director; Tashona Jones, website and social media coordinator, Randy Riggs, graphic designer; and Tom Fink, writer/editor. The team is highly collaborative and works together daily on multiple projects and content, helping one another to promote the success of the university.
“I’m grateful for this statewide recognition for both Randy’s and Tom’s outstanding work,” said Kenny Day, RSU director of communications and marketing. “Both are seasoned professionals who tell the RSU story of life-changing higher education in a compelling way every day, and I am blessed to serve alongside them here at Rogers State.
“The quality and consistency of outstanding work by this team is a testament to the excellence found throughout all three campuses at RSU. Rogers State is a special place and we are humbled to lead the charge in communicating that to our audiences.”
OCPRA is a statewide organization comprised of communications and marketing professionals from public and private colleges and universities across the state. The annual competition features schools of all sizes competing in various categories relating to college and university communications and marketing.
This was the 33rd year for the statewide contest, with 607 entries from 23 institutions in 56 different categories. A total of 191 awards were bestowed on recipients.
