For those who started college but for whatever reason were never able to complete their degree, Rogers State University is hosting a week of activities to connect adult students with the university’s degree completion program.

Scheduled for June 20-22 at RSU’s Claremore campus, Reach Higher Reconnect Week is a week of fun events and opportunities to connect with RSU personnel about degree programs, financial aid, and scholarship availability, and to learn important information about returning to college.

Activities scheduled during Reconnect Week include live music and a food truck in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center parking lot on Tuesday afternoon, June 20, with snow cones from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the DCTC Rotunda. A limited number of food vouchers for those in attendance will also be distributed.

Drone demonstrations will be given in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center, with information about the degrees available in RSU’s Department of Technology and Justice Studies.

In-person and Zoom appointments with faculty, staff and administration to discuss degree completion opportunities will be held Monday, June 19; Wednesday, June 21; and Friday, June 23, with extended phone or Zoom hours available on Wednesday until 6 p.m.

During the day, Financial Aid, Admissions and the Registrar’s offices will be open as needed.

Rogers State University is one of nine public universities in Oklahoma to offer the Reach Higher program, a degree completion initiative for working adults.

Using existing college credits, a local program coordinator will help program participants develop a degree completion program that works with their schedule.

To participate in the program, participants should have at least 60 hours of prior college credit; have a minimum GPA of 2.0 from previous college credits; and have completed general education requirements as defined by the university.

RSU Reach Higher coordinator Ronna Hatley is currently working to make available several scholarship opportunities for program participants.

“One of the primary scholarships is the Finish Line Scholarship for those in Reach Higher FlexFinish or Direct Complete with fewer than 30 hours to complete their degree,” Hatley said. “The scholarship amount depends on the number of applications and the amount received from the state.”

Hatley said she is also currently working on having a scholarship giveaway during the week.
