Oklahoma Military Academy Alumni to Hold Reunion June 7-8

The Oklahoma Military Academy Alumni Association will hold its annual reunion on June 7-8 at Rogers State University in Claremore. This year, the reunion will feature a free public performance by the U.S.Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.

Several hundred alumni and friends, who live in cities across Oklahoma and the nation, will gather for a variety of activities, including the performance by the U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, a golf tournament, awards ceremony and dinner and dance.

More than 10,000 men graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy’s junior college and high school from 1919 to 1971, when the academy became Claremore Junior College. Today, the institution is known as Rogers State University, a regional university with more than 2,800 students on campuses in Claremore, Bartlesville and Pryor.

The reunion will kick off with the annual Oklahoma Military Academy Alumni Golf Classic on Friday, June 7, at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Claremore. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at the golf course.

During the golf tournament, the Ladies Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the RSU Foundation and Alumni Center.

A musketry competition will be held from 2-4 p.m., Friday at RSU’s Rifle Range for all reunion attendees.

On Friday evening, the opening reception and sock hop will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Will Rogers Memorial.

Events scheduled on the RSU campus for the morning of Saturday, June 8, include the morning formation and cadet memorial service at 9:30a.m. at the RSU flagpole in front of Preparatory Hall; the Distinguished Alumni Award and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at Will Rogers Auditorium; followed by the annual Oklahoma Military Academy Alumni Luncheon at 11:45 a.m. at Post Hall.

During Saturday afternoon, participants will gather for an ice-cream social immediately following the luncheon, and a musketry competition from 1-4 p.m. at the Rifle Range.

The U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon will perform at approximately 4 p.m. Saturday.

The 24-man rifle platoon performs a unique precision drill exhibition. This is the first time the Silent Drill Platoon has ever performed in Oklahoma. The performance will be held at Soldier’s Field on the RSU campus and is free and open to the public.

The annual reunion will culminate with a Saturday evening dinner and dance at 6:30 p.m. at Post Hall.
