With spring break coming up in March, Rogers State University’s Office of Student Affairs has a week of fun and educational activities planned to help students prepare for a safe week off from classes.

“Safe Spring Break Week” kicks off Monday, March 6, with “Shots for Sobriety.” From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center lobby, students can play pop-a-shot basketball, giant basketball pong and connect four while enjoying mocktails. Students are invited to stop by and learn about the dangers of drinking and driving, the critical signs of alcohol poisoning and more.

On Tuesday, March 7, “Drive-Thru Car Check-up” will help RSU students planning to travel for spring break. Drive-thru Car Check-up will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the RSU Police Department.

A joint effort of Student Affairs, Campus Police and the Physical Plant, this event invites students to get their car or truck checked for road-readiness before leaving campus without even having to get out of their vehicle. Volunteers will perform a tire pressure check if needed, bring tire pressure to safe levels with an on-site tire air compressor, refill windshield wiper fluid, and provide a coupon code for a local oil change service. Additionally, all who come by for a drive-thru car check-up will receive a free fragrance tree air freshener and be entered to win a roadside emergency kit for their vehicle.

On Wednesday, March 8, the Self Defense and Situational Awareness Workshop will be held in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center ballroom at noon. This event will be taught by Havoc Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a local Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy and Muay Thai training facility. It will offer students practical strategies on how to protect themselves and be cognizant of their surroundings and situations.

Lastly, the week wraps up with a full day of beach volleyball held on the lawn of the Dr. Carolyn Center on Thursday, March 9. Music, fun and volleyball will be held throughout the day.

Rogers State University’s Office of Student Affairs invites all RSU students to participate in this week of activities and to have a fun, safe spring break.

Spring break will be held from Monday, March 13, through Friday, March 17, during which time campus offices will be closed.
