Nominations are now being accepted for the upcoming inaugural Rogers State University Distinguished Alumni Awards.
This new program, sponsored by the RSU Alumni Association, will help honor alumni achievement, beginning with the establishment of RSU’s predecessor institution, Claremore Junior College in 1972.
“From when it began in 1909 as Eastern University Prep School, to it becoming Oklahoma Military Academy in 1919, to its evolution into Claremore Junior College, Rogers State College, and ultimately, Rogers State University, this school has a long and storied history of producing exceptional alumni,” said RSU Director of Alumni Engagement Travis Peck. “With the introduction of the first Rogers State University Distinguished Alumni Awards, we will celebrate like never before our alumni, recognizing their accomplishments, and honoring their legacy as graduates of RSU.”
Distinguished Alumni honors will be awarded in three categories:
- RSU Alumni Rising Star (graduated in the last five years):
This candidate will be one who hit the ground running right after graduation. The ideal candidate should be someone who has made significant changes in their community, led a business, and/or developed and established themselves as a recognizable talent while representing what it means to be a Hillcat. - RSU Distinguished Hillcat (graduated since 2000):
This award will honor a. graduate of Rogers State University who has a record of significant accomplishment in their respective field and exemplifies the impact that a degree from Rogers State University can make. - Hill Legacy Award (1972-1999):
Giving credit to those who came before us, this award is open to anyone that graduated from the university, prior to it becoming accredited as Rogers State University.
Selected inductees will be recognized at the 2023 RSU Alumni Awards Dinner on Saturday, April 29.
Various tiers of sponsorships for the dinner are still available, including the Presenting Sponsor for $2,500, Alumni Award Sponsors for $1,500, Grand Alumni for $1,000, and Table Sponsors for $300.
Nominations will remain open through Jan. 31, 2023.
