Juried Student Art Show Opens Tonight

Pottery face mask for the Juried Student Art ShowThe Rogers State University Department of Fine Arts will open its Spring 2017 Juried Student Art Show Thursday night in the Foundations Gallery in Baird Hall.

The kickoff event for the three-week show will begin with a 5 p.m. reception.

Tonight’s event will also include an awards presentation for Best in Show, the top three student winners, and honorable mention, with tuition waivers as prizes.

Framed picture of a house for the Juried Student Art ShowTwo scholarship awards also will be presented to students who will be traveling to Montone, Italy, this summer as part of the university’s studies-at-large program.

The art show will showcase the works of 35 students in a variety of media and artistic styles. Students featured in the show, include Kayleigh Stallup, Andria Gourd, Jessicca McKelvey, Nora Auld, Callie Mercer, Benjamin Cogan, Michelle Styve, Brady Wilson, Katelynn Rogers, Baylee Brown, Rachel Monk, Cayla Ray, Amanda Delp, Ferrell Dixon Jr., Lauren Rhodes, Mackenae Cooper, Amanda Forsyth, Shelby Hobbs, Ivan Rivera, Taylor Ennis, Jeff Brame, Shaylyndria Keeler, Mika Hargis, Lori Roach, Sean Tyler, Jessica Wagner, Tonya Sappington, Bridget Williams, Drake Bendabout, Tanner Norwood, Callie Mercer, Tori Hurt, J.D.Easter Jr., Paige Winnett, and Talon Kingfisher.

Statue for the Juried Student Art ShowThe Foundations Gallery is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The art show will be available for public viewing through Thursday, April 13.

RSU offers a bachelor’s degree in visual arts with options in graphic design, multimedia, photographic arts, or studio arts, as well as an associate degree in liberal arts with an option in Native American studies. The department also offers minors in art, art history, graphic design, music, and Native American studies.
