Hunter’s Birthday Bash Celebrates 18 Years of RSU Mascot

It’s Hunter the Hillcat’s birthday and everyone’s invited.

RSU’s Office of Student Affairs will be hosting “Hunter’s Birthday Bash” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, in the lobby of the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center to celebrate the 18th birthday of the RSU mascot.

Scheduled activities for the event include free cookies and a photo op with Hunter; a giant birthday card for birthday party guests to sign; an iPad giveaway (registration required); the playing of a birthday song/video to wish Hunter a happy birthday, specially recorded for the occasion; and birthday decorations and accoutrements to commemorate the occasion.

A Hunter cutout will remain on-hand for photos and cookies still available that afternoon after 1 p.m. for those unable to attend during the celebration.

Hunter’s Birthday Bash is free and open to all students, staff, faculty and members of the community.

The Hillcat mascot was conceived independently by a group of RSU students in spring 2005 and approved the by the University Mascot Committee, Student Government Association, president and administration. The Hillcat was developed and officially unveiled to the campus in 2005 by the university’s Office of Public Relations with the assistance of SME Branding of New York.
