The Rogers State University Stratton Taylor Library will host author Catherine R. Heimdale for an April 14 book talk discussing her novel “Escape the Dragon’s Path.”
Heimdale will speak at 2 p.m. in room 207 of the library. The discussion is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
This presentation will mark the first time this academic year that the library’s book talk has featured the author of the work being discussed.
It may also be one of the year’s most personal and poignant presentations, according to the event’s coordinator Sarah Clark, RSU access services and distance learning librarian.
“Escape the Dragon’s Path” is a fictionalized account of the domestic violence Heimdale endured while married to her first husband. The novel’s protagonist is a victim of abuse who sees her world as a cave with no escape, a perception shared by many abuse victims.
Since 2002, Heimdale has spoken on the issues of domestic and dating violence. She self-published her novel during the fall of 2010.
