With the purpose of supporting Rogers County high school graduates who attend Rogers State University, Travis and Georgia (Gigi) Detter, and John and Kay Detter have established a scholarship endowment with the Rogers State University Foundation.

The Detter Family Scholarship Endowment will provide funds for academic scholarships for deserving students attending RSU.

“We are honored that two generations of the Detter family have chosen to invest in Rogers State University students,” said Dr. Larry Rice, president of RSU. “This endowment reflects their belief in the value of a degree from RSU and assisting Rogers County students in achieving that goal.”

Recipients must be a graduate of a high school in Rogers County, demonstrate a record participation in extra-curricular activities or community activities, and show financial need.

The Detter family started Spectrum Paint in 1986 with the support of his father, John Detter. Since that time, Spectrum Paint has grown from a single delivery truck and a mini storage building as a warehouse into the largest independent paint dealer in the nation with 106 stores in 12 states.

Gigi Detter earned a degree in nursing from Rogers State College in 1984.

The Rogers State University Foundation is an independent not-for-profit corporation that encourages and supports charitable giving for the benefit of Rogers State University. The Foundation acts as the principal organization through which charitable gifts are made and administered for the benefit of RSU.
