Cameron, RSU Hosting May 9 Event about Teacher Education Programs

Cameron University will be holding a May 9 informational event in Claremore to provide information for area residents on completing a bachelor’s degree in education or earning alternative teaching certification.

The event, called “CU Become a Teacher,” will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, in Room 207 of the Stratton Taylor Library on RSU’s Claremore campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Cameron, in partnership with RSU, offers bachelor’s degrees in elementary education and social studies education at RSU. RSU offers the first two years of the programs, with Cameron supplying the final two years. RSU also offers associate degrees in elementary education, secondary education and a liberal arts option in English for secondary education.

Oklahoma education leaders predict a growing need for qualified teachers in the coming years, with Cameron and RSU’s education programs designed to help meet the need to provide required training or certification preparation.
