Students should apply now for scholarships and financial aid for the fall semester at Rogers State University.
RSU offers a wide variety of financial aid options based on financial need or academic performance.
“Although the cost of attending RSU is affordable compared to other universities, most RSU students qualify for some form of financial aid to help them pay for college,” said Becky Noah, RSU director of enrollment management.
The priority deadline for applying for scholarships at RSU is Feb. 15. Scholarships will be awarded to students for the fall semester beginning on Feb. 16. Although students may apply for scholarships through the spring and summer, priority will be given to students who apply now.
“We will continue to award scholarships as funds are available, but students who apply early will have a greater opportunity to receive scholarships and will be notified earlier of their awards,” Noah said.
Students who wish to apply for scholarships or any other form of financial aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1.
RSU offers a wide variety of scholarships, including academic scholarships offered by the university and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education over four years of study. These highly valuable scholarships have minimum GPA and ACT score requirements.
Other academic scholarships are based on high school class rank, leadership skills and participation in high school activities such as student government or other organizations. Some scholarships are available to students who have excelled in competitive high school events in areas such as business, math, science or the arts. Special programmatic and departmental scholarships are available based on a student’s academic interest.
In addition, scholarships are available for students named valedictorian or salutatorian of their high school classes.
The RSU Foundation offers more than 70 scholarships through its endowment program. These scholarships are made possible by private contributions of RSU alumni, friends of the university, corporations and foundations. Endowed scholarships may be awarded based on academic achievement or financial need.
“Rising Junior Scholarships” and “Baccalaureate Transfer Scholarships” are available to students who wish to transfer from a two-year college to pursue one of RSU’s bachelor degree programs.
A wide variety of other financial aid opportunities are available to students at RSU, including federal and state grants, low-interest student loans and work-study assistance.
“RSU also has many job opportunities for students,” Noah said. “Many of our students choose to work on campus to help pay for their education.”
RSU will offer a free event on Sunday, Feb. 9, to help students apply for financial aid and scholarships. “College Goal Sunday” will be held on the second floor of Markham Hall from 2-4 p.m. All students, prospective students and their parents are invited to attend.
