The RSU Foundation is bringing the RSU Bartlesville Scholarship Fundraising Breakfast back to The Center in Bartlesville, located at 300 SE Adams Boulevard. The event will take place Thursday, June 22, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. There is no cost to attend the breakfast, but donations are accepted and are tax deductible beyond the value of the breakfast meal.

The breakfast fundraiser supports students attending Rogers State University in Bartlesville and those who have transitioned from RSU Bartlesville to RSU in Claremore, according to Tonni Harrald, RSU senior director of development.

“We hold breakfast fundraisers for each campus annually,” Harrald said. “Funds raised at each of these events are dedicated to student scholarships.”

Previously, the Bartlesville breakfast event raised $26,000, Harrald said, slightly below the Foundation’s goal of $30,000, but substantial with regards to making a difference in the lives of many RSU students.

“Because of the generosity of those who have supported the Bartlesville breakfast, this academic year, the RSU Foundation awarded 21 RSU Bartlesville students nearly $30,000 in scholarships,” Harrald said. “This is in addition to the scholarships provided through ConocoPhillips, Phillips 66, Truity Credit Union, The Barry and Karen Sue Lowe Foundation for Education, and other individual Bartlesville-based donors.”

Sponsorships, advertisers and important contributors are key to raising funds for the scholarship breakfasts and are a means by which businesses, groups and individuals can show their support for RSU students.

“Sponsorships are always our biggest source of revenue,” she said, “and we have several tiers of sponsorship opportunities available.

Currently, Diversified Systems Resources (DSR), ConocoPhillips and Phillips66 are among the top-level sponsors of the event.

“We’re encouraging anyone who is interested in investing in the future of our students to attend the event,” Harrald said.

Students selected to receive scholarships from the fundraising breakfast are chosen among those who have applied online for a Foundation-funded scholarship and have completed their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Scholarships made possible by the Foundation through fundraisers such as the scholarship fundraising breakfasts significantly reduce the out-of-pocket expense for their recipients’ education.

“We’re so grateful for the support we receive from the Bartlesville community,” Harrald said. “Contributions of any kind are hugely appreciated and genuinely help give our students the opportunity for a better life for themselves and the chance to make a difference in the lives of others.”
