RSU Marks Thursday as ‘Spirit Day’

To celebrate a notable Hillcat basketball season, Rogers State University is encouraging students, staff, faculty and community members to wear RSU colors Thursday in honor of the teams’ last home games.

“Wearing red and blue is a great way for the RSU community to show their support for Hillcat athletics,” said Wren Baker, RSU athletic director. “We hope to have our biggest crowd of the season Thursday for what will be a great night of basketball at the Claremore Expo.”

Both teams face the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison at the Claremore Expo Center. Tip off for the women’s game is 6 p.m. and the men take the court at 8 p.m.

RSU plans to “White Out” the Expo Center by filling the stands with Hillcat fans wearing custom-designed white T-shirts for the conference showdown. The first 1,500 fans to arrive at the game will receive a free white T-shirt. Doors open at 5 p.m.

The RSU men are currently ranked No. 1 in the NAIA and boast 25-1 record. Thursday night they will face OBU, the No. 2 team in the NAIA. The women have posted a 16-12 record and hope to have a strong finish to their season.

The “White Out” is co-sponsored by 1st Bank Oklahoma and Pixley Lumber Company.

Admission to RSU basketball games is free for children under eight and RSU faculty, staff and students. General admission for games is $6 per person and reserved seating is $10 per person. More information is available by calling Hillcat at 343-07731 or visiting www.rsuhillcats.com.
