RSU Hosting Music Festival, Hillcat Run This Week

There’s lots to do at Rogers State University this week with the university hosting a community music festival on Thursday evening and the Hillcat Fun Run, 5K, and 10K on Saturday.

Both family-oriented events are open to all community members, as well as to RSU students, faculty and staff.

band performing on stageThe inaugural YAM Jam music festival will be held 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, on the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center lawn at the Claremore campus. Y.A.M. Jam will feature live music, food, giveaways, kid’s activities, vendor booths and a cultural fair. Y.A.M., which stands for You Are More, seeks to promote mental wellness and cultural appreciation. Live musicians will include celebrated Tulsa Afro-funk ensemble Count Tutu. Admission is free and open to the public.

Now in its second year, the Hillcat Fun Run, 5K, and 10K will be held on Saturday, April 21, on the RSU campus. The 5k and 10k courses are USATF certified and take runners through the RSU campus and surrounding areas. The event is hosted by the RSU Campus Activities Team and proceeds will benefit the William W. Barnes Children’s Advocacy Center.

T-shirts and medals are guaranteed for the first 200 registered runners. Award baskets will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each race.

The Fun Run is $15 and will begin at 8:00 am. The 5K is $20 and will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the 10K is $30 and will begin at 8:30 a.m.
