RSU Health Sciences, Biology, Psychology and Sociology Seniors Present Capstone Research April 25

Nearly 70 Rogers State University seniors from the Department of Biology, Department of Psychology and Sociology, and the School of Nursing and Health Professions presented their capstone research projects Friday, April 25, on RSU’s Claremore campus.

Enid native Anna Lee’s capstone topic was “Using Handheld and Audio Calls to Assess Wild turkey Populations on Specific Public and Private Lands in Oklahoma.”
Nursing students Eric Ragan (left) and Cole Beets (right) worked together on their capstone project, “Range of Motion Exercises in the ICU Setting.” Ragan is a native of Fresno, California, and Beets is a native of Mason, Oklahoma.
Senior Kelsey McGhee’s capstone research subject was “Antimicrobial Properties of Medicinal Plants Used by Native Americans.” McGhee is a native of Grove, Oklahoma.
Sage Anderson of Owasso selected “Exercise and Self-Efficacy” as his capstone research project.
Ashley Thao of Tulsa chose to investigate obstacles that affect the mental health of first-generation college students in her capstone project. Thao’s research promoted a more supportive and inclusive environment that fosters academic and mental health well-being for first-generation (college) students.

Ryanne Wolff of Rogers, Arkansas, performed a qualitative study using photovoice methodology to explore the enduring presence and influence of imaginary companions in adult creative processes. Her project was titled, “Co-Creators of Imagination: A Photovoice Approach to Understanding Imaginary Companions and Adult Creativity.”
Psychology major Zoe A. Page’s capstone was “The Effects of Ice Hockey on Mental and Physical Health.” Page is a native of Claremore.
Pryor native Tate Baumert’s (left) capstone presentation was entitled “Efficacy of Creel Surveys to Assess Largemouth Bass Population Dynamics and Two Oklahoma Lakes.”
Collinsville native Ashleigh P. Ross (right) shares her capstone research on the analysis of arthropod diversity in decomposing leaf litter from native and invasive trees of northeastern Oklahoma with friends, family and RSU faculty.

Nearly 70 Rogers State University seniors from the Department of Biology, Department of Psychology and Sociology, and the School of Nursing and Health Professions presented their capstone research projects Friday, April 25, on RSU’s Claremore campus.

Held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center, the spring 2025 capstone projects represented research on a wide range of subjects within the students’ respective fields of study.

Presentations included the student’s capstone theme, entailing an introduction, methods of research, their results, and points of discussion, citing references used in their research.

In total, 69 capstone presentations were displayed, of which, 27 were from psychology and sociology seniors, 26 were from biology seniors, and 16 were group projects from nursing students.
