A dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held for the new Rogers State University campus in downtown Bartlesville on Thursday, Oct. 27.
The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the first-floor lobby of the RSU campus, located at Fourth Street and Dewey Avenue. The public is invited to attend.
“We would like to take this occasion to formally dedicate our beautiful new campus building and show our appreciation to the Bartlesville community for so warmly welcoming us to our new downtown facility,” said RSU President Dr. Joe Wiley.
Participating in the ceremony will be Bartlesville community leaders, RSU staff and members of the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents, the governing board for RSU.
After the ceremony, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, the public is invited to tour the new enrollment and student services center located on the first floor and the classrooms, computer labs and offices on the seventh floor.
The new enrollment center, located just inside the main entrance on Dewey Avenue, will offer a variety of services for new and returning students, including assistance with applying for admission and financial aid, academic advising and testing services, according to Bill Beierschmitt, provost and chief operating officer of RSU in Bartlesville.
“The new enrollment and student services center will provide convenient, ‘one-stop shopping’ for our students, enabling them to complete most of the paperwork associated with attending college in a single location,” said Beierschmitt.
The new RSU campus opened in August in the historic nine-story Reda Building. The university purchased the building last spring. Since opening, the number of students enrolled at the Bartlesville campus increased by 8.8 percent over last fall.
A strategic plan for the Bartlesville campus features continued renovation of the building, a significant expansion of the number of available college degrees and coursework, improvement of student services and activities, and further addition of full-time faculty members with doctoral degrees, resulting in projected enrollment of more than 2,000 students in the next seven to ten years.
RSU anticipates expanding the number of bachelor’s and associate’s degrees that may be completed at the Bartlesville campus in areas such as accounting, business management, liberal arts, nursing and social sciences.
The historic building was constructed by the Bartlesville Masonic organization in 1919, which occupied the ninth floor of the building until 2000. The building originally served as headquarters for the Cities Service Oil Co. and later was the home of the Reda Pump Co. Schlumberger, a worldwide oilfield services company that has major operations in Bartlesville, sold the building to RSU earlier this year.
