Hillcat Softball Coach Gains New Title

Rogers State University head softball coach Dawn Reed has been named the new senior women’s administrator for the Hillcat athletic department.

RSU athletic director Wren Baker has expanded Reed’s duties to aid with the continuing growth of Hillcat athletics.

“I am excited to have Coach Reed take on these additional responsibilities in the athletic department,” athletic director Wren Baker said. “Dawn has repeatedly demonstrated superior performance in both her coaching and teaching duties and I know that she will be a tremendous asset to RSU as Senior Women’s Administrator.”

Reed will help implement all new female athletic programs at RSU, which will include the addition of women’s basketball in 2007 and other programs such as soccer and golf in the near future. She will also be charged with ensuring the eligibility of all RSU student-athletes, including evaluating transcripts and filing eligibility reports.

Reed joined RSU in 2005 after serving as the head softball coach at Bacone College. She held a similar administrative title at Bacone as the assistant athletic director/senior women’s administrator for the Lady Warriors.

During her tenure at Bacone, Reed established a nationally recognized NAIA softball program which finished ranked in the top 15 nationally in 2004 and 2005. In her inaugural season at RSU, she led the Hillcats to an impressive 29-17 record.
