Individuals meeting bachelor’s criteria will be eligible for admission for a bachelor’s and associate degrees. If an individual does not meet the criteria for a bachelor’s degree, they will be admitted for an associate degree.
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum admission requirements for recent high school graduates:
- Must meet high school curricular requirements
- Must be a graduate of an accredited high school or possess a GED (student’s high school class must have graduated).
- Must meet one of the following requirements:
- minimum unweighted GPA of 2.7 AND top 50% of high school graduating class
- minimum ACT composite score of 20+ OR SAT composite score of 1020+
- minimum high school Core GPA of 2.7
- Test Optional must meet all of the following requirements:
- minimum unweighted GPA of 2.7
- minimum high school Core GPA of 2.7
- top 50% of high school graduating class
Associate Degree

Steps to Apply for Incoming Freshmen
- Submit your Application for Admission
- Submit the following documentation to the Office of Admissions:
- official High School Transcript or GED certificate
- ACT/SAT scores (optional)
- official transcript from every college attended (if applicable)
- AP/CLEP scores (if applicable)
- Finalize admission and submit FAFSA early to receive priority consideration for RSU Scholarships.
- Submit a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine if you qualify for grants, work study status or student loans.
- RSU’s school code is 003168.
- Before receiving financial aid, you must submit an official high school transcript to RSU.
- If you’re interested in living on the RSU Claremore campus, submit the RSU Housing Application. Early application is encouraged.
- Participation in basic skills assessment and/or developmental coursework is required for placement purposes if a first-time freshman has below a 19 as a sub-score on the ACT in English, math, reading or science, or a score below 510 on the SAT in English, math or reading. The SAT does not test science, so a placement test may be required.
- Students will work with their academic advisor to determine what placement testing, if any, is needed in advance of enrollment. You may also contact the Office of Admissions with questions regarding placement testing.
- Schedule a placement test with the RSU Testing Center
- Register for ROAR (RSU Orientation, Advising and Registration).
Homeschool Students FAQ and Helpful Tips
No, in Oklahoma homeschool students are not required to take the GED. It is not recommended that a student takes the GED.
There are many great resources on the internet for creating a transcript. The important thing for university admissions is that it must meet the standards for an official transcript, including:
- Name of school
- Full name of student, address, and DOB
- Grade earned in each class
- Cumulative GPA and GPA for each individual semester
- Freshman through Senior year
- Notation of Lab Sciences and any concurrent classes
- Graduation Date
- Name and signature of school administrator (parent)
When the student is 13, 14 or 15 years old.

- ACT scores are the most common way to earn scholarships. Research several universities to see what scholarships are available at each score level.
- To qualify for National Merit Scholarships students must take the PSAT/NMSQT® at an approved location during October of high school junior year. Many students also take the PSAT/NMSQT® during the sophomore year for practice.
