Maj. Gen. Thomas H. Mancino, adjutant general for Oklahoma, this week signed a memorandum of agreement with Rogers State University President Dr. Don Raleigh for the continued partnership in support of RSU’s Guard Officer Leadership Development (GOLD) Program.
Signed Monday, Aug. 4, the memorandum of agreement outlines each party’s commitment to the continuation of the program, allowing commissioning opportunities for currently-serving Oklahoma Army National Guard Soldiers and RSU students.
Arriving via Black Hawk helicopter, Gen. Mancino was greeted by Dr. Raleigh and members of RSU’s GOLD Program, who escorted the general during his time on campus.
The GOLD Program is a unique campus-based initiative designed to recruit and train current enlisted soldiers as potential officers through the Accelerated Officer Candidate School. This program ensures future leaders are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to serve and lead effectively. The program further develops the Army values in student-leaders and gives opportunities to apply those values in the local community. In addition, the memorandum establishes updated procedures for the conduct of GOLD Program operations and military science instruction.
The Oklahoma National Guard is composed of more than 8,000 citizen soldiers and airmen from across the state.
Gen. Mancino was appointed as the Adjutant General for Oklahoma by Gov. Kevin Stitt in November 2021. In this function, he serves as the top military advisor to the Governor and commands the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard.
Gen. Mancino commissioned in 1992 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Oklahoma State University. In previous assignments, he has served as the 90th Troop Command Commander, Oklahoma Army National Guard and Director of Information Technology/G6, Oklahoma Army National Guard. He has commanded at the company, battalion and brigade levels. Prior to receiving his commission, Gen. Mancino served for six years as an Enlisted Soldier in the Oklahoma National Guard.
