About the Program

If your passion is helping others through life’s challenges, RSU’s Master of Science in Community Counseling is your launchpad. This program prepares you to work with individuals, families, and entire communities to address issues like addiction, trauma, poverty, and mental health. You’ll build a strong foundation in counseling theory and practice through courses like Trauma Informed Therapy and Addictions and Family Systems Counseling.

You’ll also complete practicum and internship experiences with real clients, preparing you to sit for the National Counselor Exam (NCE) and the Oklahoma Legal and Ethical Responsibilities Exam (OLERE). This degree can help you meet requirements for LPC certification and opens the door to a variety of roles—from marriage and family therapist to school counselor and case manager.
