RSU Public Relations Staff Wins OCPRA Awards

Rogers State University Public Relations staff was recognized for regional excellence with several awards during the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association annual awards banquet.

Kate Northcutt, graphic designer, won first place in the Logo Design category with her “Boots Goes to Gilcrease” design. The logo was used on all printed and electronic pieces for the annual Bit by Bit fundraiser.

The “Giant QR Code” created by Jimmy Hart, public relations coordinator, and Randy Riggs, graphic designer, to promote the launch of the RSU Mobile App won first place in the Bright Idea category.

The RSU Mobile App, designed by Hart, Riggs and Kelli Fields, web marketing coordinator, received second place in the mobile app category. The smartphone app is available for free for Apple and Android platforms.

Northcutt also received honorable mention in the Large Brochure category with the Oklahoma Military Academy Reunion 2011 program.

Honorable mention was given in the Square Peg category, recognizing unique and clever ideas, to Hart and Riggs for sidewalk decals they created to promote the RSU Mobile App.

“The RSUPR staff works throughout the year to support the mission of the university in a number of ways. I am happy to see the quality and ingenuity of their work lauded by our industry peers,” said David Hamby, director of RSU Public Relations.

The awards banquet was held July 9, 2012 at the Choctaw Casino in Durant, Okla., as part of the OCPRA’s annual conference.

RSUPR provides an array of services to the university, including media relations, graphic design, publication development, photography, strategic marketing as well as web and social media-based communications.
