RSU Names Andrews as Vice President for Research, Planning and Assessment

Linda Andrews, who has served at the helm of the academically recognized Rogers State University nursing program since 1989, has been named the university’s new Assistant Vice President for Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment.

Her appointment to the position was approved by the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents, the governing board for RSU, at a meeting in Ardmore on June 28.

Andrews will continue in her present role as head of the RSU Department of Health Sciences while a search for new department head is conducted during the fall semester. She also will remain assistant professor of health sciences at the university.

She currently is pursuing a doctoral degree in family science from Oklahoma State University. The title of her dissertation is “Adult Caregivers Motives for Helping and the Effect on Their Wellbeing.” She received a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas, both in nursing. She resides in Tulsa.

Recently, she has been instrumental in the development of a new bachelor’s degree in nursing, which is expected to be offered at RSU in the next few years.

In her role as Assistant Vice President for Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment, she will provide strategic and academic planning, support assessment and program review activities and coordinate accreditation processes and major academic projects.

Her long career in nursing includes home health administrator for Upjohn Healthcare Services in Tulsa and Bartlesville. She also was director of hospital-wide staff development at Doctor’s Hospital in Tulsa and coordinator of continuing education at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. Prior to joining the RSU faculty in 1986, she taught classes at the University of Tulsa. She also worked as a registered nurse in the intensive care units at Hillcrest Medical Center and Arlington (Texas) Memorial Hospital and in the general receiving unit at Fitzsimmons Military Hospital in Denver, Colo.
